Had A Stiff Neck. Had Unsafe Sex. The Sex Contact Was Oral Sex Without Condom. Possible HIV Infection?
Hi, I am a gay guy off 34. I am very worried about a possible HIV infection. I had a stiff neck last week, about 3 weeks after the unsafe sex contact. It lasted 4 days and was quite severe. I don't have any other symptoms. I am so worried I cannot eat or sleep.
The sex contact was oral sex without condom. Without seamen.
However as I am gay, the risk is still there.
I am too afraid to take the HIV test.

Hi,
The HIV takes long time to affect like about 2 years to turn in to active disease and it will not give immediate issues like you are having.
I advice you to be brave and take test and more over you will need treatment of the soar throat. Please be careful next time onwards and use protection.

Only symptom of Stiff neck won't tell us about HIV. This may or may not be due to HIV as initially they can present as viral fever with myalgia or may not be any problem at all. So I advice you to get tested once for HIV.
If you don't check for it then the fear will be there always with you and no further steps for management can be taken. Its a simple test and a screening technique. So need not to be worry and get tested for it once.
Take all the precautions from now onwards as one small mistake can cause serious problem. Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management.
