Had A Complete Hysterectomy. Had A Pellet Inserted. Proper Diet. Have Headaches. Should I Take Any Hormone Progesterone ?

Hi, I am a 53 year old woman. I had a 'complete' hysterectomy roughly 3 years ago. I had a hrt pellet inserted at that time which I was told would last for about 1 year. I actually feel really good. My diet is pretty good and I walk and lift light weights. I don't appear to have any menopause symptoms apart from headaches which seem to be in clusters for a few days then I don't have any for a few weeks. My questions is: should I be taking any kind of hormones or natural progesterone (wild yam cream) and will that possibly help with the headaches? Any other tips for a post menopausal woman would be appreciated. Thanks Heather

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

IF you have no post menopausal symptoms and actually feel great, then there is no need to consider taking hormonal pills. Hormonal pills are used to relief women of severe menopausal symptoms and long term used is actually discouraged because of the possible consequences. No one will prescribe this treatment simply because you are menopausal and without symptoms.

Eating well is essential. Vitamin D and appropriate calcium intake levels are very important to prevent osteoporosis. Keeping fit with regular physical exercise is very important.
I don't think these headaches are caused by menopause, You will need to get consulted for proper evaluation and treatment of these headaches.

I hope you find this useful and provides valuable information you can work on.
I wish you well.
