What Could A Rash / Wart On Decades Old C-section Scar Indicate?

I had 3 c-sections (my baby is 21 years old) and a complete hysterectomy in 1998. I took hormones for years and came off of them approx. 5 yrs. ago. I have had no problems until about a year ago and I started having hot flashes. I sweat on forhead and back of neck and my skin seems to be really sensitive the cold air during hot flashes. I have also had a intense itiching periodically around my c-section scar with NO rash or bumps or insect bites. this just randomely comes and goes. I am a little over weight and have loose skin that hangs over my scar. I recently worked in the yard on a very hot day and developed a heat rash "under" my loose tummy skin. this is healed now, but I have a bump right on my scar that is not painful. It is flesh colored and looks like a wart to me.. but it just popped up overnight. It doesn't hurt and it is very flexible.. it moves easily almost like a skin tag.. but harder. It is perfectly round but is not smooth on top.. has that "wart" look. I have no insurance so I avoid the dr. when possible. just concerned since it just popped up over night.

Hello,

You are suffering from rash/wart on an old C-section scar. You also have hot flashes, sweating, itching on the scar makes you uncomfortable. There is a bump on your scar that is causing you concern. Since you are over weight , you are suggested to do regular walking and avoid taking fried food, trans fat, full fat dairy products, etc. Take fresh well cooked veggies, whole cereals, fruits, berries, nuts, etc. Prefer to take boiled food over fried food. You should take care of your hygiene, take bath regularly.

Do not use harsh soap & perfumed body products. Do not pop, touch or scratch the bump or the rash. Get clinically examined by a GP / OBGYN in the ER. The rash needs to be cleaned and antiseptic dressing done. Get it cleaned and dressing done every alternate day to help it heal faster and prevent any infection or spread of infection. In the meantime, you can take non sedating anti histamine to get rid of itching. Hot flashes and sweating is normal physiological changes that women experience when they enter pre-menopausal phase.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
