Fainted After Working Continuously. Diagnosed With Epilepsy. Prescribed Eptoin And Levipil. Faints After Stopping Levipil. Reason?

My brother worked continuously for 2 days and 1 night in office and after that he fainted and was taken to hospital. The doctor diagnosed it as epilepsy and prescribed eptoin and levipil500 for 3 years. After 3 years, his EEG was normal and doctor advised him to stop eptoin and reduce levipil dose for 6 months. After 6 months, again EEG was normal and doctor advised to stop levipil after 45 days. After 2 days, when he stopped it he fainted again. Doctor advised him to continue levipil for 45 days and after 45 days same condition was repeated. You are requested please let me know whether this is epilepsy or may have caused of some other reasons(after effects of medicine).
Can you suggest some other alternative medicine in place of levipil?
