Extremely Chapped, Discolored, Dehydrated Lips Due To Smoking Tobacco With Weed. Have Stopped Smoking And Started Drinking Water. How Long Will It Take For Lips To Be Normal?

Hi doctors, i need serious help :(

Ok i'll start off by saying my lips are [[extremely chapped]] for about a year or so
i've been smoking tobacco with weed for 2 years everyday. I don't drink enough water. For 2 years my lips started to looked like this, but i had continued to keep smoking anyway, and not drinking enough water.

I quit smoking a month ago :) But my lips are still very chapped, and dis-colored(brown at rims of lip & pink(luscious) where its not chapped) from all of the tobacco smoke entering my mouth(inhale) and leaving(exhale).

Here is a picture of my chapped lips when they are relaxed state(big pic):

Here is a picture of my lips when I pucker up my lips(look closely how the weed/smoke affected it over time):

my lips are so dehydrated from smoking tobacco that they literally look like chapped prunes(fruit)
the tobacco and marijuana changed the shape of my lips as you can see in the two pictures, also my lips used to be "normal" and fully pink and luscious 2 years ago instead of being brown at the rims from tobacco.

I do not like how my lips look at all, I quit smoking(good start), and I will drink more fluids.
But how long do you think it will take to go back to normal? Will I need to go to a doctor? Is this normal? I never saw anyone with lips like this. But I am sure it is from smoking weed and tobacco together/not enough water because that is when this chapped lips started but i didnt think it would stay forever.

Please help me! :/

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

It is quite clear that you are severely dehydrated. I would advise you to strictly follow a rehydration diet, I shall mention a few of the most common and beneficial foods that shall help to rehydrate you at a faster pace. They are:
-Cucumbers (in normal form or juice)
-Watermelons
-Green salads (eg. lettuce, Romaine lettuce, etc.)
-Tomatoes (fresh, in salads, fresh tomato paste or sauce)
-Soups (with normal salt, which will help retain fluids in your body)
-Eggplant
-Applesauce
-Zucchini
-Cantaloupe
-Bell peppers
-Pears
-Pineapples
-Carrots
-Mangoes
-Apples
-Yogurt
-Strawberries
-Oranges
-Broccoli, cabbage
-Berries
-Beans
and of course a lot of fluids.

I am sure you shall be fine in no time. Rehydration is a slow process, especially if you are trying to do is through an oral diet, and not infusion (carried out during hospitalization by a medical personnel).

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
