Expecting Another Child, Have Cervical Erosion, Doctor Told To Do Cauterization. Is It Safe?

i have cervical erosion for 5 years after my delivery that was normal.my gynaec took pap smear&HPV.every thing is normal.but she told me to do cauterization.but im afraid of it.bcos im expecting another child.every one is giving different opinions.im 30 years old.so pls reply me & help me doctor

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
A cervical erosion is most of the times hormonally mediated.
It occurs as certain times of the menstrual cycle, during puberty, menopause, childbirth , on OC pills etc.
As long as the smear and HPV is negative, do not worry.
Also, there should not be any signs of infection or cervicits.
Cauterization is a normal precautionary measure.
IT is a five minute procedure, that does not involve any kind of anesthesia either.
You do not have to be scared at all.
It will clear the erosion, and is a simple procedure.
Do not worry - go ahead with the cauterization as advised.
