Does Rashes Like On Lower Back And Top Of Buttocks Indicates Herpes?

I have had what I think is shingles reoccuring several times in the last two years. I had blood test come back positive for herpes and inconclusive for shingles. I am not sure what tests were performed but just because of the nerve pain associated with this I am pretty positive it s shingles and not herpes. It always comes in the lower part of my back, top of my buttocks. Should I find out what kind of tests were performed to make sure I do not have herpes? Also my life is very stressful and I am sure it s brought this on.

Hello,

It is unlikely that you would have had many recurrences of shingles at the same site unless you and severely immunocompromised. It is definitely something else. Not shingles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Kakkar S., Dermatologist
