Does Rabipur Need To Be Administered Any Further?

A street dog has licked my leg finger which has skin allergy and exposed skin, I consulted a doctor and he administered a TTV and Rabipur, I have taken 2 doses of Rabipur on day 0 and day 3, do I need to get the vaccine further as the leaflet in vaccine says that for previously immunised individuals, only two shots are required and I have taken all 5 doses 4 years back, today is the 8th day do I need to take the third shot which was scheduled yesterday ??

Thank you for query. The risk though is not very severe we have to treat with vaccination as rabies is always over treated than under treated. your previous vaccination is 4 years old .you should have received booster after 2 years if you were high risk person which does not appear so.But now you can go for another dose as the antibody levels may not be high as expected due to previous vaccination.or you can test for antibody titers if available and see for need of vaccination. You can get back to me for any clarifications .Dr Bharatesh D Basti
