Does Nuvaring Cause Watery Discharges In Periods?

Last month I changed my birth control from the pill to nuvaring. I have noticed that my discharge has been very thin and sometimes water-like. It is clear and odorless but I have never had this before. Also when I started my period I noticed that my period has been thin and also water-like. Is this just a side effect or is something wrong?

Hello,

Changes in your vaginal discharge and bleeding are normal. It may be from the change from birth control pill to Nuvaring. But it is just a new normal, not a problem.

One other thing to consider is if you are having symptoms of a Sexually Transmitted Infection.

But since if your discharge is thin, watery, no odor and on and off - then that is probably not the case. But if it changes or sex becomes painful, then you should get tested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Lisa Baker
