Do The Cough With Blood Indicate The Stage Of Cancer?

My 70 y.o. father was diagnosed with lung cancer yesterday. We have very little information at this time regarding the stage, type, etc. My dad advised me last week that he is having arm pain that wakes him up at night and he coughed up some blood. Is there any way to know from this very limited information where he might be in terms of the stage of the Ca? Thx.

Staging of lung cancer can only be deterrmined by imaging.
I will suggest u do CT scan of chest with contrast, CT scan of upper abdomen, Bone Scan and an MRI of brain for your father.
If lung cancer has spread to areas like liver, adrenals and bones then it becomes stage 4 cancer and then the only aim of treatment is palliative chemotherapy to improve the quality of life and not cure.
