Hi,

While cortisone injections are generally safe, they can cause side effects such as pain, swelling, and redness at the injection site. However, it is unusual for a cortisone injection in the hand to cause pain in the arm, breast, and nipple, as these areas are not typically related to the injection site.

The symptoms your aunt is experiencing could be related to an infection or inflammation in the breast tissue, which may or may not be related to the cortisone injection. Following up with her doctor and getting a proper diagnosis is essential.

In the meantime, your aunt can take over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen to manage her pain. She can also apply a warm compress to the affected breast to help alleviate the discomfort. However, it is essential to seek medical attention promptly, as untreated infections in the breast tissue can lead to serious complications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
