Do I Suffer From A Head Injury After Falling From Stairs?

I fell down the stairs and was admitted to the trama unit for broken nose and reattach my scalp. Anyway my chest bone in. The middle of my chest is way to soar. I remember waking up in the ambulance and the attendant was beating my chest. Now it hurts to swallow. I will see my primary care physician in a few weeks. Was I dead and he was beating my chest to revive me or am I still suffering for my head injury. I had brain damage also.

Hi. It sounds as though you may have sustained significant injuries given you sustained a nasal bone fracture, scalp laceration and suffered a loss of consciousness. You may have injured your chest during your fall with a possible sternal injury. As to your direct question, it seems unlikely that you were receiving CPR if you suddenly awoke to find the paramedic beating your chest, however, you will be able to obtain the information you need from the hospital that treated you. It is important that you find out the nature of the injuries you sustained as any future treating physician, or even insurers will need to know if any significant injuries were sustained. When were you told you suffered brain damage - was it during this episode? What are the details of this. Did you have a CT scan of your head? You also should be aware of the details of any head injury sustained as it may have important implications for your future healthcare. I hope this helps.
