Difficulty In Swallowing, Whitish Tongue. Tonsillitis?

I think I have tonsillitis . I am having difficulty swallowing foods, and discomfort swallowing liquids, my voice has gone somewhat and I am producing much more saliva than normal I think. Also my tongue has a white/grey topside and my nose is somewhat blocked. Any advice please? I am usually very healthy and fit and simply do not get ill, the only thing I can think off is that I moved to University so my diet is less organised. Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM
Your description of sympotoms suggest a possibility of URI which could be viral or Bacterial, for pain you can take a simple analgesic like parcetamol and Hot saline gargle will help to reduce pain and inflamation of throat.
If there is fever and too much discomfort then it would be better to visit a ENT Surgeon and after examination of throat and nasal passage proper antibiotics and Decongestant may be advised to you to cure your problem.
Please take care of your diet with hot soup and even a Gnger tea helps.
Take care
Good Luck to you
