Diagnosed Strep Throat, No Improvement With Penicillin Shot, Amoxicillin, Zantac, Prednisone. Having Constant Pain, Sore Throat. Cure?

Hi, imay I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I have had a sore throat for 3 weeks now. I was first diagnosed with strep throat and given a shot of penicillin. After a few days it still wasn't any better so I went to my doctor who placed me on Amoxicillin. A week went by and it still wasn't any better, so my doctor had blood work done. Went back to my doctor who said I didn't have strep throat, or anything like that and put me on Zantac to see if it may be Acid Reflux, she also put me on Prednisone to stop the swelling and inflamation in my throat. I've only been on those since yesterday, but, my throat still hurts. What else could it be? I'm really tired of having a sore throat and being in constant pain and begining to get scared that it's never going to go away.

Hi, it appears to be the sore throat with resistant bacteria. you may need to have culture and sensitivity of the throat swab, and treatment according to the result and sensitivity of the organism.
I to my patient with such infection, prescribe erythrocin 500 mg T.I.D. for 7 days along with the routine symptomatic drugs. Thank you.
