Diabetic, Have Reading. Can Any Online Doctor Help?

I am diabetic my A1c was 7.7, I take metformin take 2 750 mg my liver enzymes were a little high ALT 68, AST37(fine). Alkaline Phosphatase 129, could this be caused by my increased A1c, or could it be the Simvastatin 20 mg. I started MediFast AFTER these tests, already my blood sugar is dropping, can MediFast affect the liver, she suggested I come back in one month to test again, I think she feels MediFast will make the liver enzymes higher I feel it s caused from my High A1c?

Hello,
Your diabets is still not controlled well as your fasting levels are high.
Please do get your PP sugar estimation also done.
It is very essential for you to control your blood sugar levels as uncontrolled sugar levels lead to various future micro ad well as Macrovascular complications and these include damage to eyes, kidneys, heart, nerves, blood vessels etc.
For control of diabetes along with proper medications, you have to reduce your calorie intake and do regular aerobic exercises for 45 minutes a day.
As far as high liver enzymes are concerned, they are mild and seem to be due to use of simvastatin and high blood sugar levels.
There is nothing to worry about them.
Moderate our alcohol,if you are taking it since it can also increase liver enzymes.
Other causes for high liver enzymes could be use of herbs products and pain killers also.
Keep your blood sugar, blood pressure and serum Lipid levels under control.
Thanks

Diabetologist Dr. Pratap VGM's  Response
DEAR SIR/MADAM

AFTER ANALYSIS OF THESE RESULTS, YOUR ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE ENZYME IS ELEVATED, I THINK IT IS BETTER FOR YOU TO DECREASE THE DOSAGE OF BOTH
1. SIMVASTATIN 20 MG
2. METFORMIN

TRY TO USE DIFFERENT GROUP OF DRUGS FOR DIABETES CONSULTING YOUR DIABETOLOGIST.

THANKS
