Delayed Periods. Pregnancy Test Negative, Prescribed Susten SR 300. What Could Be The Reason?

Hi doctor,

I had my periods on October 25. My periods are delayed and i have 28 day cycle. I went to me gynac for consult. The upt showed negative and when she did scanning and told me that i am not pregnant but she also told me to take Susten SR 300 for five days and wait. I have never had delayed periods till date. What do I do? Do I need to wait for some more time? Is it too early to detect pregnancy?

Hello madam, from the history you have given. ..susten is a progesterone supplementation which helps in holding pregnancy....sometimes in very early weeks of gestation the urine pregnancy test will show a faintly positive line, or does not turn upto be positive..This is because of low levels of beta HCG in early weeks....In such circumstances it is better to waite for 5 to 7 days and then repeat a test..hope i was helpful to you. ..

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. Susten is harmone progesterone and it will make your periods regular. If you dont have your periods after taking susten also then you need to be concerned and take a pregnancy test again. I suggest you to have blood hcg levels done. Thank you.
