OBGYN 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.
If your wife is overdue, then please take a pregnancy test to confirm or rule out a pregnancy.
If the test is positive, please consult a gynecologist for procedure of medical abortion.
Do not take any pills over the counter or by yourself as it can be dangerous.
Having intercourse just before the period is due would normally not result in a pregnancy.
All the best.

OB & GYN Specialist Dr. Dr. Soumen Patra's  Response
hello,

Unprotected sex around period due date is very much safe and chance of being pregnant is almost nil from this sexual act.

In general, period date may be delayed up to 7 days and it is considered as normal thing.

Here, she needs to undergo one home pregnancy test at the earliest and blood test for beta hcg after 7 days of due date.

Other reasons of late period are stress/ anxiety, hormonal imbalance, over wt/ loss, irregular diet habit, pelvic infection, ovarian cyst etc.

Consult with gynecologist after initial test report to proceed other relevant investigation. Take suggestive measures accordingly.

Take healthy diet with iron supplements, control body wt, avoid stress and take sound sleep.

Good luck.
