Cyst In Forearm, Sarcoidosis, Growth In Finger, Getting Larger. Had Echocardiogram, ECG And CAT Scans. What Is Going On?

I had what we thought was a cyst taken out of my right forearm approx 4 wks ago. We beleived it was a minor thing. It came back as being a sarcoid. I now have the same type of growth on my right middle finger and it is getting larger. I have been to have xrays and cat scans of my chest and seeing a pulmonologist. I also have had a echocardiagram of my heart. I am scheduled to see a dermatologist to look at the growth on my finger and being told that they may be able to do something beside surgury. I am concerned because my sister in law is days away from passing and it is from many complications of which the major one is sarcoidosis. I am being told I should seek a specialist out that just deals with sarcoidosis. Are the doctors that I am seeing now doing all the things that are needed. I don't want to be leaving my 14 year old and wife anytime soon, I am male and 50 years old.

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

Till now the exact cause of Sarcoidosis is not known.

It is a autoimmune inflammatory disease ie.. formation of antbodies against your own cells, molecules and tissues.

It affect multiple organs ie skin, lung, heart, muscle, kidney etc..

Thus there is no particular investigation.
Investigation may ranging from simple ultrasound to invasive biopsy depends upon the symptoms of the patient.

As it is the inflammatory disease, Corticosteroids are most commonly used to reduce the symptoms. Other drugs may be used depends upon the organ involved.

There is no definite cure for this disease.

I advice you to do Have Regular Health Check up, drink plenty of water, do yoga and meditation, Eat Healthy foods, exercise regularly.

Severe complication may occur if the proper care of early symptoms and avoidance of medical attention.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr.Manjeth
