Cutted Arm With A Blade, Leaving Behind Scar. Best Medicine To Remove Scar?
my cousin had cutted her arms with blade before 1 year she is very good and her study is also good but she is in depression may be.it s all well now she has job,she is very happy but the scars looks so bad.the people who observes it may think that she is still not out of deoression.so she is 20 yrs old now.please help me to give the best ointment which gives the good results.please doctor

The old scars caused by blade do not respond very well to any topical cream/gels applied.
There are certain laser treatments which help about flattening of the scar to a good extent.The type of laser/ no of treatments and the possibility of obtaining a good cosmetic result can be discussed with your dermatologist.
She can start applying products with silicone gels for the scars till she can visit the dermatologist.

Tretinoin based cream at night
Dermabrasion or
Fracional laser
For associated pigmentation:
Hydroquinone, tretinoin ,hdrocortisone combination cream
TCA spot peels
A sunscreen with UVA and UVB protecion during the day
If the scar is raised then she may need cosmetic surgery
However the response depends on the duration ,depth and extent of scar and varies from person to person .
