Could The Liver Enzymes Be Controlled Through Diet?

Dear Sir,

I had my cholesterol check one month before and result says as below

Cholesterol – 309, Triglycerides – 355, HDL – 54.5, LDL – 183

When I checked my SGPT & SGOT, result is 179 & 101 respectively.

Kindly advice me whether diet can help me or whether need to consult specialist doctor.

Hello,

You need to consult a physician for the high cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL levels for the possible use of medications such as statin with fibrates along with certain lifestyle changes such as:
1. Alcohol consumption should be stopped (if you consume)
2. Avoid fatty meals, fast, and junk foods.
3. Eat home-cooked meals, increase the intake of fruits and vegetables.
4. Increased intake of oral fluids.
5. Do regular exercise.
6. Vitamin E containing supplements may be needed. Kindly repeat the liver function tests after six to eight weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
