Could Taking Valium And Motrium During Early Pregnancy Stage Harm Baby?

Hi, I just found out I am 7 weeks pregnant and prior to finding out I was taking 5mg of Valium,800 mg of motrin and oxycodone for a back injury. I haven't taken anything since I found out. Do you think I caused harm to my baby? Will it have birth defects? Thanks

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Usually harm is caused with constant and continuous intake of such medications, and if you are lucky the amount you took will not cause any harm to your baby.

In all such cases, I advise vigilant monitoring during the first 3 months of gestation to look for any abnormalities and to inform the mother before the 20th week of gestation, so she can take a call (if god forbid there is any abnormality serious enough).

But in my opinion, your baby should be fine.

Best wishes.
