Could Lymphoma Be The Reason To Have Spleen Removed?

Thanks, my 18 yr. old son had his spleen rmoved and to our knowledge there was no accident. He has to see a Hemotoligist July 15th and I we don t know much but i have heard that Lymphoma could be a cause. Can you please make this a little more clear for me. If you answer me I will be so thankful & surprised as I have never done or asked anything like this before. Thanks, Vicki

hi vicki madam. splenectomy was considered an integral part of surgical staging for lymphoma. but today it is not mandatory. lymphoma can be cured by chemotherapy alone. so u need not to worry much. i can tell u in detail if i could see the reports.
