Could Intake Of Alcohol Reduce The Effectiveness Of Vaccinations?

I was scratched by a cat last November 26, 2010 and it made an open wound at my feet. I seek medical attention and was treated with PVRV, tetanus toxoid and two more on November 30, 2010 and was adviced not to drink liquor on the entire duration of the treatment. Another PVRV vaccine was given to me on dates December 3, 2010 and December 9, 2010, but on December 17, 2010, I accidentally forgot not to drink liquor. I drank 1 in can of beer and again on December 28, 2010 with 1 bottle of beer, 1 bottle of San Mig Light and the Bar. I had my last shot yesterday, January 6, 2010. I told this information to the nurse assisting me, but adviced me to just finish the last vaccine. Is it safe to not repeat the previous vaccines i had despite of these situations? Would the liquor that i have drank reduce the effectivity of the vaccines? We haven't seen the cat up to this date.

Short answer:
No, intake of alcohol doesn't reduce the effectiveness of vaccinations, so you don't need to repeat your vaccine shots.

Detailed answer:
Dear user,

I really understand your concern.

There are done some studies for relationship between alcohol intake and the effectiveness of vaccinations but none of them has shown that intake of alcohol reduces the effectiveness of vaccinations, so there is no truth in this statement. You don't need to repeat your vaccine shots.

However, drinking alcohol around 1 to 2 hours before/after vaccine shot isn't advisable, as per avoiding any interaction.

All the best!
