Could Grinding Noise In Lower Spine Indicate Ruptured Or Bulging Disc?

I am a 38 yr old female with 5 children and a sixth on the way. I have been told i have 3 vertebrae out of place and major pain in my sciatic area for years. Now for the oast 2 years i have a grinding noise in my lower spine area accompanied with alot of pain. Could i have ruptured a disc or have a bulging one? Any advise concerning this matter would be greatly appreciated. No family history of disc disease that i know of.

Hello,

As the grinding sound is due to the bone over bone rubbing and it's common in people having weakness of the muscles of the spine and hip muscles.

Since you are pregnant for now I will advise doing simple exercises like breathing, bridging, heel-dragging, knee spread apart while lying. You can even take the help of a competitive physiotherapist who can help to stabilize the muscle and joints.

Post the delivery you need to focus on the exercises like - core stability, spinal muscle strengthening exercises, hip muscle strengthening, lower limbs strengthening.

Having a good abdominal muscle will help stabilize the spine and avoid this grinding sound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
