Could Extreme Cold And Metallic Taste Cough Be Symptoms Of Viral Infection?

I have had a cold since Monday. It began with a very sore throat and sneezing, then by Tuesday had moved into sinuses which resulted in stuffiness, altered taste, watery eyes and plugged ears. By Wednesday, I had a deep cough and today I have a semi-wet cough that tastes metallic.

My question is, is this likely a viral infection that I simply need to wait out by getting rest and drinking fluids? I have been taking ibuprofen, Sudafed as a nasal decongestent and Nyquil at night to help me rest.

Hi,welcome to healthcaremagic forum.
Cold and sore throat is most commonly viral. But since you are having a semi wet sputum with bad taste, and it reached sinuses also, your condition is most likely bacterial, and need antibiotic treatment, along with paracetamol and anti histaminics.I usually give azithromycin/amoxicilli+clavulonate to my patients.
Meanwhile, you avoid dusty/cold atmosphere, and avoid bareheaded bike rides.Warm saline gargles and steam inhalation will do good.
I hope you will find this information useful.Thank you.
