Continuous Pain In The Right Side Of Head. Cause, Treatment?

Hi, My father s been having contineous pain in the right side of his head, including right nasal side also.. Pain has been for more than 1 month now. The pain decreased when he was prescribed Cirrus tabs, but still pain didn t go away and most of the time he is in pain. He had the second box of cirrus but stopped them now, as he doesn t know for how long he should take them, or else if he can take something more effective. What are the possible causes and what can he take for such pain? Thanks.

Neurologist 's  Response

Hello,

Thanks for the query,

I understand your problem

The causes of headache are many and it can be due to migraine, tension headache, cluster headache, brain infection/tumor/bleed, sinus infection etc. Further the associated symptoms like vomiting, weakness of any side of the body etc will help narrow down the possibility of headache. I am sorry that I do not know the age of your father. Another important cause of headache in elderly is temporal arteritis. Without a clinical examination it would be difficult to say the cause of headache. I advise you to get evaluated by a local neurologist who will help you through clinical evaluation and if needed by scans. The treatment will depend upon the cause
identified.

Hope this clarifies
Best wishes
