Child Is Vomiting, Restless, Unable To Sleep. What Is The Issue?

Hi there.

My 12 month old daughter is formula fed. Last week we switched her to a toddler formula. Tonight she woke up at 3am and is restless. Crying, and will not go down in her crib. She has thrown up several times now. It smells terrible and resembles cottage cheese. What could be the issue? Thank you so much in advance

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child might have developed gastritis.

You can give an antiemetic like ondansetron or domperidone in prescribed dosage to control the vomiting.

Maintain her hydration by giving sips if oral rehydration solution like Pedialyte.

If the vomitings are not controlled, consult your Pediatrician as early as possible.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi

Thanks for your query.

Your baby is having acute gastritis which could be due to viral infection or indigestion due to change in feeding pattern.

Crying is due to colic.

Most important is to maintain hydration.

I suggest you to get her evaluated by pediatrician as she needs antiemetic like domperidone and some antispasmodic.

In the meantime give oral rehydration solution sip by sip, give coconut water, lemon water in small amount.Do not force her to eat.

Wishing your baby speedy recovery.

God bless.
