Child Having Diarrhoea, Diaper Rash, Runny Nose And Cough, Lactose Intolerant. Any Suggestion?
Hello my son will be one next Sunday. Unfortunately we have had diahrea for over a week now I took him to the dr. On tues of this past week and they told me to give it two weeks. I feel that two weeks is a long time to wait. He has a horrible diaper rash and now is congested And has runny nose and cough . Any suggestions? He has been known to be lactose intolerant since about 2 months old but we have not really changed anything from the normal
One this you should monitor is he should not go into dehydration because of loose stool.
Monitor for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
So replacement of fluid is important.
You may give ORS or any other fluid containing salt and sugar.
Second problem is diaper rash. Stop using diaper. Change the diaper frequently. Do not use the soap to clean the area. If the baby is lactose intolerant then one should stop using milk.
