Child Has A Wart On Her Lip. Treated With Topical Medication. Now Skin Is Grayish. Permanent Discoloration?
Hi, my daughter has a wart sitting right above her top lip. She has been treated at the dermatologist with topical medication but, it did nothing to the wart. I discussed this with her physician who then asked if I'd used any otc meds and I replied no but, I would look into it. I bought some basic topical wart medication and applied only once which was last night and now her skin is a brownish/grayish color all around the wart. I am so worried that I have permanently discolored her skin. Please help. She is 8 years old.
Hello brother, Don't bother. Everything will be alright. Warts are typically caused by a virus know as the human papilloma virus (HPV). A dermatologist will sometimes prescribe a topical ointment for lip warts. Freezing or burning the warts can be used to get rid of some warts, and surgical removal may be necessary for stubborn warts. Individuals should never apply a wart remover to the face or lips, unless it is specifically formulated for these areas. Patients should only use products specifically labeled as safe to use on the face and lips. Keep in your mind, Freezing or burning may cure 100% at that area. Don't bother about discoloration. It will come to normal skin color., Regarding lip wart it is better to follow only dermatologist's advise Best wishes
