Child, Diagnosed With Mood Disorder. Level Of Lamictal Out Of Range. Is This Dangerous?
Hello, I am a Guardian ad Litem for a four year old little boy diagnosed with a mood disorder ( amount other things) he takes 100 mg a day...we have been tracking the level of Lamictal in his blood it seems that when he is with one parent the level drops to out of range...my question is how dangerous is this for the child...
Lamictal is an anticonvulsant medication and a sustained blood level is required for it to be effective. If the level falls below the range then it is not going to be effective and one will have to deal with the mood changes. Hence, it is advisable to monitor the intake of the medication.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
