Child Diagnosed ADHD, On Concerta, Melatonin. Noticed Gradual Bowing In Legs, No Pain. Concerned About Bowing?
9 yr old boy. Is ADHD and has been on Concerta and Melatonin for 2 yrs. I have noticed a gradual and increasing bowing of his legs over the past 6 mos. He drinks about 24 ozs of milk daily. He leads a fairly sedentary lifestyle. Should we be concerned about this bowing? He doesn't complain of any pain in his legs and walks normally.
After having read in detail about the two products that your child is consuming for his ADHD, I am convinced that the bowing of the legs is NOT due to these medications. I would rule out vitamin D deficiency as the cause of her bowing legs.
Hence, I think you should go for an X-ray of the legs with the knee joints to rule out rickets (vitamin D deficiency) if you still have doubts. The diagnosis can be confirmed with blood levels of Vitamin D.
Hi, it appears that he is having flurosis, due to the presence of floride. The bones becomes hollow, and become brittle, to become bowing legs. I advise you to consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment. He should be given protected water to prevent further bowing of legs. Thank you.
