Child. Nose Bleeds At Night, Dark, Splotchy Skin Discoloration Behind Both Ears. No Pain And Itching. Concerning?

8 year old daughter has been having bad nose bleeds at night. On average this happens twice a week for the last three months. Today I noticed behind both of her ears a dark, splotchy discoloration. It has no texture and she says it doesnt hurt or itch. Should I be concerned? I have an appt with her dr in two weeks. Should I push to get her seen sooner?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Repeated nose bleeds needs physical examination and investigations to rule out any underlying bleeding disorder.

Bleeding disorders will present with repeated nose bleeds and skin discoloration due to bleeding into underlying skin.

Investigations like CBP, platelet count, clotting and bleeding time, PT with INR, APTT to be done after consulting your doctor.

Consult pediatrician as early as possible for the examination and for investigations.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
