default
Posted on Thu, 5 Oct 2017
Question: What would cause the following... I was lying in bed watching tv and my leg started to throb pretty bad. After a few minutes I felt a stabbing pain in my left thigh on the inside and just above my knee. I looked to see and there was a knot. For the last three days there has been a very dark purple bruise about the size of a half dollar. Please advise.

No history of disturbance, pressure or insect bite in the area. No bruising anywhere else, no real pain at all unless it is touched, however the bruised area does have a significant hard area in the center... my blood pressure has never been a problem, it usually is a little lower than the norm. My pulse is the same way, historically. What I mean to say is they both run a little low. I have no serious health issues that I am aware of. I have been diagnosed with Hep C, but have not had any high level readings on tests. I was diagnosed about 19 years ago. I do not take any medications ever unless it is mandatory. I have been smoking since I was a teen. Use to smoke a pack a day, now I am down to half a pack. I ride my bike and walk my dog on a regular basis. I have always been pretty physically fit. I have an extensive history of drug use. I drink maybe two, three times a year and I limit that to two drinks. My drug of choice was meth.

Coagulopathy issue . all recommendations provided in details .

Detailed Answer:
Hi thanks for the details .

* Seems to be some sort of coagulopathy issue at microscopic level manifested
over the part .

* Recommendations at present

- Keep the area clean with antiseptic liquids .
- Ice application 4 - 5 times a day each session for 5 minutes .
- Turmeric paste ( 5 gm of turmeric powder mixed with 10 ml of distilled water )
thin layer application 3 - 4 times a day will help with its extensive anti
microbial actions .

- Avoid tight jeans or other clothings over the part .
- Must decide now to quit smoking , use of other abuse drugs in favor of future
major problems from coagulopathy issues .

- Tab. Ibuprofen ( 400 ) mg 3 times a day after meals .
- Keep regular watch over the size , color change of the bruise .

* Follow up with photo pic after 72 hours or early if any problem .
