Can We Give Polio Drops When Child Is Suffering From Fever, Sore Throat And Diarrhea?

Hello Sir/Ma'am,
My Daughter is 1 yr and 6 months old, shes is suffering from mild fever, sore throat and diarrhea for last 4 days, Her doctor has asked us to give her Oral suspension and has warned us that this could cause diarrhea, Calpol when she gets fever and levolin syrup for her tonsils. My question is that it is ok to give her polio drops in this conditions? Or shall I wait for the next turn. She has already been give polio drops a few months ago and her doc. has also giver her the polio drops and polio injections when she was even younger i.e. during her routine vaccination. Please help thanks

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are some contraindications (reasons something should not be done) for giving the polio vaccine.
Some of these contraindications are: (1) history of previous allergic reaction to the vaccine

2)history of allergic reaction to neomycin, streptomycin,polymyxin b

(3)moderate or severe acute illness with or without fever

(4)progressive neurological disorder

If there is a minor illness with no systemic upset then the vaccine does not need to be postponed.

In your daughter's case, your doctor may consider postponing the vaccine.
