Can Redness In Tongue Be A Side Effect Of Hpv Shot?

Hi, my 17 yr old son has redness under his tongue, he says he can not move his tongue. It appears as there is tissue is hanging on both sides of his mouth under his tongue. What is this? Also, he recentlly had the hpv shot, could this be a side effect.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to an allergic reaction to the HPV shot. I suggest using an antihistamine such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily. If the symptoms continue, he may need to use steroid shots.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
