Can One Get Pregnant After Wearing Birth Control Patch ?

Hi, I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend (stupidly) but she has been on a birth control patch that she wears for 3 weeks. I scrounged up money to buy plan b and I want to know if I should give it to her. Note that she can t take pills, I need to crush them for her. Please help ASAP!

Hi,
Contraceptive patch is very effective( >99%). If your girlfriend is of average weight ( patch is less effective in obese women) and is using it correctly I don't see any rationale for your worry. There is no need to use Plan B.

If you have had sex in the first week or fourth week (patch free week) of cycle then there is no need to worry as this is safe period and there is no chance of pregnancy occuring.

Like any other contraceptive method there is a very small possibility that this method may fail ( Of the thousand women using this method for one year about 3-9 women can get pregnant).
If you are scared of this very small failure risk you may use Plan B.
