Can My Husband Be Suffering Acid Reflux?

my husband is a black and mild smoker. as of lately he complains of tightness and pressure in the middle of his chest, shortness of breath, and alot of yawning. it comes and goes and nothing seems to really trigger it, but if drinks a soda, he ll burp a little and it relieves sum of the pressure but he still seems to be slightly short of breath. could this be acid reflex or more cardio related?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
tightness of chest and pressure can be due to acidity and gas formation for which he can take pantoprazole 30 minute before meal 2 times a day, he can also take some antacid . he should avoid spicy and oily foods , should not remain empty stomach for long time and should drink adequate amount of water.well his shortness of breath need to be accessed by a physician and if required then go for lung function test , blood pressure measurement, electroc ardiography and echocardiography and chest x ray for cardiac accessment and further management.
thanks for consulting HCM
