Can Mucus Presence Shown On Test Be The Cause Of Diarrhea In An Infant?

Dear Doctor, my baby of 7 months (8.950 kg) has diarrhea green/ yellow to just green stool with strong presence of mucus. Lab test result showed a presence WBC/Pus cells 10-12.
A doctor prescribed Ofloxacin and Ornidazole suspension (50mlg and 125 mlg respectively per 5 ml). I read that Ofloxacin is not advised for children. What would you advice?

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. It seems your kid is having acute watery diarrhea. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry. Antibiotics might worsen if unnecessarily used causing antibiotic associated diarrhea. Especially Ofloxacin and Ornidazole as you mentioned ar not advised in kids. I suggest you use zinc supplements & ORS... Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
