Hello! I have been taking lisinopril for three months (5mg once a day) and three or four weeks ago I developed very sore spots on my tongue. They are anywhere from a 16th of an inch to a half inch across and are redish and are on the sides of my tongue. At one point I had a burning sensation on the upper flat of my tongue as well. They are very painful, but vary in intesity throughout the day. Most aggrivating at night time, but can be painful during the day. I am 47 years old, in great health and very rarely medicate myself. I am fit and active but my primary care physician has been suggesting I start blood pressure medicine for many years as I have been consistantly around 135 - 140 over 80 - 90 (blood pressure readings). I have always maintained that it was just my level as it has not risen over the years, but since my father is on it they figured I should as well. They have been mentioning that heart disease is a silent killer, which I know, but I have been in great health and have taken no meds other than an occasional antibiotic and an ibuprophen now and again. Could these sores be related to the lisinopril? I have read a few articles that suggest it, as I also have the persistant random cough that is a common side effect. Do these symptoms abate once I stop taking the medicine or do the continue indefinitely? How long has this medication been around? Thank you so much for your answers!! Never mind - I was not expecting a bill. I thought this was a forum. Greed lives.
