Can Embolization Cure Large Fibroid In Uterus?

Hi. I have large fibroid size 24 -26 weeks of uterus. I have heavy bleeding and I already got A blood transfusions 3 times. The gynaecologist offer me to choose either embolization or myomectomy. Which one I should take? Ps. I m 31 years old and still wish to have children. Thank you

Hi,
Since the fibroid is too large, it needs to be removed.
In myomectomy abdomen is opened to reach the uterus and by making a cut on uterus fibroid is removed. If medications ( like vasopressin) are used during surgery, blood loss is less and is reasonably safe procedure.

In uterine fibroid embolization, a catheter is inserted through the groin into uterine artery and embolic agent is injected into the arteries that supply fibroid.This causes the fibroid to degenerate, shrink and die. During the procedure unintended embolization of ovarian vessels may occur affecting its function. So its effect on future fertility is uncertain.
Therefore since you are still young and wish to have children, i advise you to have myomectomy.
