HELLO, I ATE SOME FOOD ON THE NIGHT OF THE 8TH THAT HAS GIVEN ME DYSENTRY. THE SYMPTOMS DEVELOPED THE NEXT MORNING WITH FATIGUE JOINT ACHE AND MILD NAUSEA. THE STOOLS ARE SMELLY BUT THERE IS NO CRAMPING. i AM EATING LIGHT AND WAS HOPING IT WOULD SETTLE BY ITSELF SINCE WE LIVE IN INDIA AND STOMACH UPSETS ARE A REGULAR PART OF LIFE BUT I STILL HAVE THE DYSENTARY THOUGH THE FATIGUE AND ACHE IS BETTER NOW. CAN IT BE AMOEBIASIS? THANKS
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Eating outside the house and developing dysentery, nausea, joint pains and fatigue is surely indicative of an intestinal infection and amoebiasis can be co-existent. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and advise the tests of stool, blood and urine. Get a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and as per the reports. Take probiotics, bananas, curds and rice. Plenty of oral fluids, boiled and cooled water and soft bland diet. So not eat outside, always have homemade fresh foods only to avoid re-infection.
