Can Blood Test Detect The Presence Of Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome In The Child During Pregnancy?
Good day, Im wondering if a blood test can detect if I am a carrier of the Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS)? Meaning that if I get pregnant one of my babies can have the risk of having AIS? Im asking this because I stop my pregnancy because my baby at 6months old did not develop his genitalia and it was confirmed he was an XY. After many test and an amniocenteses the doctors did not find anything. But after reading about AIS Im wondering if i can be a carrier and how can I know this? Thanks for your time, kindly regards.

Androgen insensitivity syndrome is seen in males.
In this condition the pituitary and the testis are functioning properly and secreting their hormones.
However, the end receptors are not able to respond to the hormones.
This leads to lack of masculinization and feminization in males.
If the your baby was a male and got aborted at 6 months, it does not signify androgen insensitivity syndrome in any way.
Chrionic villus sampling can be done in your next pregnancy.
This test is used to look for any chromosomal abnormality.
Testing for androgen insensitivity syndrome can be detected by estimating levels of testosterone in the fetus.
