Can Absence Of Fetal Pole Lead To Abortion?
i have an u/s on 30/07/2012, my LMP was 11/06/2012, the doc says there is an g sac of 23 mm of 6 week 6 days but no fetal pole, and they say there may be a chance of threatened abortion they have called me again after 2 weeks to became certain.. m very afraid?

Gestational sac with size more than 20mm with no fetal pole or yolk sac is indicator of blighted ovum which is unlikely to progress to a normal pregnancy.. Get a hcg done and repeat after 48 hrs to see for doubling time.. If doubling present, get a scan repeated after 2 weeks to see for fetal pole. If there ia no doubling, the chance of healthy pregnancy is very low..Hope I have answered your query.. Good day..
