Can Phentermine Effect The Bowel Movement?

Hello I have been on Phentermine 5mg for a little over 2 months now with GREAT RESULTS!! I have been eating better, and exercising. BUT it has been since 5/4/14 since my last bm. Should I take something that will make me go? I drink lots of water. I don t know if I should go see my doctor early or not. Please advise if I should just take a laxative or not.

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of taking Phentermine 5 mg with great results, but developed constipation - drinks lot of water - wants to know whether to take a laxative or to go to visit a Doctor.
I would advise you the following:
Since Phentermine is known to cause constipation, it may be necessary to change over to another medications if the routine treatment of constipation fails.
Take a laxative like Cremaffin plus at bedtime and see the results for a few days.
You can also try Esabgol husk and other laxatives and stool softeners and see the results.
Go for an X-ray of the abdomen to see for fecoliths and if present may need evacuation by saline and soap enema and to maintain with the routine laxatives.
Also make a note of the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problem of constipation and stop these altogether.
Continue taking full diet high in fiber contents and have foods and beverages that you know suit you the most.
