Can Nordette Tablet Prevent Pregnancy?

My last period was aug 20. I had unprotected sex last sept 5, fertile period. Using withdrawal method, my partner was not sure if he was able to pull it out in time. I going to take nordette tonight. Will it still prevent pregnancy even if i had sex during my fertile period?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Nordette is a combined oral contraceptive, to be used cyclically. When taken regularly, it acts by preventing ovulation.some times it is taken in a short course & high dose as an emmergency contraceptive.
You already had unprotected sex in your fertile days on 5 th of Sept.. It's almost 6 days past the intercourse. In case you are pregnant, the fertilization & embryonic growth must have already started.
Taking Nordette at this stage will not have any contraceptive effect, it would
cause congenital malformation in fetus.So please don't take it now.
