my boyfriend is age 32 and his psychiatrist prescribed him Lamictal 50mg daily for a mood stabilizer. he has been taking as prescribed for 3 weeks and started to have itching all over his body last week. at that time he had no rash, we didnt change soaps, etc. we read rash and itching is a side effect of lamictal and could potentially be alarming. the itching has continued everyday on his arms, legs, hands, neck. today he came home from work with a very subtle, blotchy rash on his forearms. he does not have a fever, yet has felt extra tired, dizzy, mild swelling of hands and his throat hurts for last 4 days. we do not have health insurance that covers ER visits and his doctor is difficult to contact because of drew s work schedule. ...... what do u suggest?? should he wait it out and play phone tag with his doctor and see him at his next scheduled on june 6?? drew s work WILL NOT allow time off for rescheduled appt during office hours. .... im thinking he needs to be seen at ER. or does he just need to stop taking the medication and wait till appt. (frustrating part is he says the medication has helped his mood.) thank u for ur time.
