Hi,
Surely Intrauterine devise which you used earlier does NOT cause heterogeneous texture of uterus on
ultrasound. There is no reason to be concerned.
This finding means that the uterine muscle (
Myometrium) texture is not uniform. The most common reason for this appearance is
adenomyosis. Tiny multiple
fibroid seedlings in the myometrium can also cause this appearance
Adenomyosis is a condition in which there is growth of uterine glands into the muscular wall of the uterus.
Fibroids are benign (means not cancer) growths of muscle cells in the uterus. If the fibroids are large your technician would have made the diagnosis.
These conditions are quite common, affecting about a third of women aged 35 and above. They can be asymptomatic. Sometimes adenomyosis can cause heavy menstrual bleeding with cramps. Tiny fibroid seedlings usually do not cause any symptoms. Mild to moderate adenomyosis and tiny fibroid seedlings usually do not have impact on
fertility. It is best to discuss ultrasound findings with your gynecologist.
