Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Valtrex is a good medication for Shingles. Do continue it as per your doctor's advice. Some patients may get pain after shingles which we call as Post herpetic neuralgia. If Valtrex therarpy is initiated quickly after the appearance of rash, the chances of occurrence of postherpetic neuralgia is less.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
