Can Gaba Medicine Be Taken With Coumadin For Anxiety & Depression?
Hi, I am a 67 year old female taking 8.5 mg of Coumadin per day for Lupus Anticoagulant Factor. I have had two episodes in my life. One at age 19 with a miscarriage with clotting and had to be transfused with three pints of blood. The last episode was three years ago when I got blood clots in my lungs. Hundreds of them. I week in the hospital. At first I took Warfarin but had side effects so now take Coumadin. My INR is checked weekly at home. I am having winter blues and don't feel well and am wondering if Gaba can be taken with Coumadin for anxiety and depression. I don't have depression very bad but it comes every winter like clockwork. I do fine until mid October then I feel like I lose my energy and get very lethargic and find it hard to recover if I get sick feeling weak and shaky. Can I safely take the Gaba
I think, you have seasonal affective disorder. In that case, you should take antidepressant before winter to avoid the episode. You can also take light therapy to decrease the depressive symptoms. Gabapentine has anxiolytic effect and you can take it with caumadin. There is no significant drug interaction between them.
Thanks
