Bruises On Left Chest As A Result Of Fall. X- Ray Normal. Extra Cartilage On Both Bottom Edges Of Ribs. Is This Normal Or Due To Fall?

my husband fell the other day and received bruises on the left side of his chest. They took an x-ray and said that there were no broken or cracked ribs. However, they said he had extra cartilage on both bottom edges of his ribs. They are suppose to get back to him if there is a medical problem. Is this normal, caused by the fall or something else?

Having extra cartilage or rib is not abnormal from disease point of view and it cannot be due to injury or fall. some people do have these from birth and it is genetically predetermined.
so no need to worry, this was a coincidental finding

The injury he had does not seems to be serious and just follow your doctor's advise

Hope this helps
